Migration crisis grows between Poland and Belarus as cold and violence hit thousands of people

As of this Tuesday, Poland closes one of its border crossings with Belarus due to the migratory crisis, which is increasing. The Polish government denounces not only that the Belarusian authorities allow the passage of 4,000 migrants to their territory, but also that they facilitate it: they say they give them tools to break the wire. In the images that accompany this video, it is observed how, with shovels and even shears, thousands of migrants, most of them Kurds, try to break the border belts.

The migrants come mainly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Polish military tries to prevent them from advancing with tear gas that ends up inhaling children; minors trying to avoid escalating tension: “Please, we don’t want to fight. Our government has killed everyone.” But Poland insists Belarus is whipping up these migrants to carry out an invasion.

Precisely, the Polish authorities have announced this Monday reinforcement measures at the border in the face of what they have come to call a “threat” – referring to the massive arrival of migrants – and have also warned that there may be an “escalation” of military actions in the area. Piotr Müller, spokesman for the Polish government, has assured that his country is facing “provocations” from Belarusian officials.

In addition, he added that it is expected that there will be an intensification of conflict situations on the border between the two countries. In this sense, the spokesman for the Polish Executive has stated that “lPolish borders are being attacked in an organized wayThe spokesman for the coordinator of the Polish intelligence services, Stanisław Żaryn, has elaborated on this question.

“According to the most recent information, this huge group of migrants is under the control of the Belarusian armed forces, who decide where they can and cannot go, “said Żaryn in relation to the participation of Belarusian officials in the movement of these people. A problem that the European Union seems to be aware of. According to Brussels, the Belarusian president is taking revenge on the sanctions imposed on his country.

This gives rise to a conflict in which the worst unemployed are, as always, civilians: about 4,000 people camping in frozen forests while suffering attacks from both sides. Another 10,000 could try to reach Poland in the next few days. In addition, both Poland, Latvia and Lithuania have declared a state of emergency in recent months due to the increase in the arrival of irregular immigrants from Belarus.
