French President Emmanuel Macron assured this Sunday that does not exclude sending to Ukraine Leclerc tanksalthough he pointed out that three conditions must be met, among them that there is no escalation in the conflict.

“I have asked the Defense Minister to work on this, nothing is excluded,” he assured. Macron at the joint press conference with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, at the end of a Franco-German Council of Ministers.

Macron has pointed out three conditions so that this shipment can finally take place: that it does not mean an escalation of the conflict, that there are Ukrainian soldiers ready to use them and that it does not affect the capabilities of the French defense.

The French leader has indicated that the coordination work to decide what to do about the Ukrainian requests to the West for heavy tanks will continue “in the coming days and weeks” with the other allies, including Germany.

Macron has recalled that France has already delivered a large military material to Ukrainesuch as 18 examples of the Caesar self-propelled heavy artillery system, ammunition, anti-aircraft missiles or infantry fighting vehicles.

For his part, German Chancellor Olaf Scholzhas expressed today the total coincidence between his country and France in the will to provide Ukraine with “all the support that is necessary”, as long as “it is necessary” and “with the means that are necessary”, be they financial, humanitarian or weapons .

“The common goal is that Russia withdraws its troops from Ukraine“, the German leader stated in an appearance with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, after the Franco-German Council of Ministers held today in Paris and in the midst of pressure on Berlin for the shipment of “Leopard2” that kyiv demands.

Asked if this availability includes this type of battle tanks, Scholz has insisted that any decision regarding arms shipments must be adopted “in close consensus with our allies“both Europeans and with the United States.
