The rescue teams of Vietnam have recovered this Friday the body of the boy Thai Ly Hao Nam10 years old, who died after falling 21 days ago into a pile hole of cement, 35 meters deep and barely 25 centimeters in diameter, in the south of the country.
Two rescuers from the Dong Thap Province Police Department pulled the victim out early this Friday after descending through an iron pipe to a depth of 24 meters, in a risky operation that lasted almost two hours. as reported by local authorities.
“After 21 days of hard work and maximum effort, the rescue teams returned at 1:20 a.m. with the body of Thai Ly Hao Nam on the surface,” the provincial government said in a statement.
The little boy fell into the concrete pile, barely 25 centimeters in diameteron December 31, when he went with three other children of similar ages to collect metal in the construction works of a bridge.
Despite the efforts of the rescue groups, which mobilized some 350 people and counted on measures such as pumping oxygen into the hole and sending water to the little one, Nam was declared dead four days after the fall, due to the “multiple injuries” he suffered, as well as the lack of oxygen and heat, the note specified.
“From that moment on, the rescue work changed its objectives and methods, determined to get the boy’s body out as soon as possible,” it added.
According to the vice president of Dong Thap province, Doan Tan Buu, told local media, the emergency services have rescued Nam’s body “intact“, as the decomposition process occurred more slowly than usual due to the geological circumstances of the terrain.
Doan also pointed out that the authorities will launch an investigation to clarify the causes and verify, if there are any, those possibly responsible for the accident.
