Five passengers of a stolen plane die when it crashes in Argentina

A stolen aircraft carrying five passengers crashed shortly after takeoff in the Argentine province of Chaco, killing all on board.

The Cessna 206 plane, with five seats, was stolen from the hangar early Wednesday morning. It was the recent acquisition of an agro-livestock businessman, with an estimated value of 1.55 million dollars.

This was stated by Sergio Ríos, the prosecutor investigating the case. The Argentine authorities indicated that a 9mm caliber pistol, money in Paraguayan currency and a Cerro Porteño cap were found at the place where the plane crashed.

“We have already communicated with the Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board (JIAAC) and we have made a receipt of the scene, except for the extraction of the bodies,” the prosecutor clarified to Radio LT7 de Chaco.

According to the prosecutor, the identification of the bodies could be difficult because the plane caught fire when it fell.

The passengers “are not from here and I still cannot say why we are convinced that they are foreigners or foreigners, in any case it will be very difficult to identify each one because the bodies were completely burned,” Ríos said.

The agents already have an explanation for what could be the cause of the accident. “They explained to me that the plane has a hidden locking system, and when they took off they forgot to open that ‘tap’ and they ran out of gasoline, not everyone knows where that fuel passage is,” the prosecutor said.

According to the official, the items found, such as a cell phone, are evidence that the gang that stole the plane had a level of organization.

He said that the criminals “had very important logistics”, since they managed to circumvent a series of “highly sophisticated” alarms to steal the aircraft. (YO)
