Lack of jobs and inflation, the main concerns of Mexicans

The lack of jobs and inflation are the two main concerns of Mexican workers for this 2023, revealed a survey by the Indeed employment portal on Monday.

According to this survey, three out of 10 Mexicans (33%) indicated these indicators as their main concerns for this year, followed by a possible recession in the Mexican economy with 10%.

Meanwhile, the survey also recalled that the monthly expectations survey of the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF) highlighted a growth of 3% in 2022 and 1.2% for this year, as well as the creation of 1.15 million formal jobs. in these two years.

On the possible recession, the rating agency Moody’s Analytics It has estimated that there could be a stagnation in the Mexican economy by the middle of the current year that would last at least nine months until 2024.

In this context, other labor concerns of Mexican workers, according to the survey of Indeedare the rejuvenation of the labor force (9%), the increase in informality (6%) and the return to the face-to-face work model (6%).

The senior manager of corporate communications at Indeed in Latin America, Madalina Secareanucommented that despite the economic prospects of Mexico by 2023 “is an opportunity for job seekers to increasingly understand the various job markets, including what employers are looking for in ‘hard’ and ‘soft skills’”.

In addition, he highlighted the growing offer that is concentrated in sectors related to technology such as “software development, cybersecurity and crypto and finance”.

On the other hand, respondents in Mexico highlighted the reasons why they would want a new job, with salary being the main motivator (82%), in addition to greater flexibility (50%), shorter commutes (42%), and full work. at a distance (29%).

This survey also revealed dissatisfaction with the boss (14%), transfer (19%), temporary work (11%) and career change (10%) as the main motivators for wanting a new job.

In contrast, only 4% of all respondents said they would not want a new job.
