The Brazilian Prosecutor’s Office has requested the Federal Supreme Court (TSF) to investigate three Bolsonaro deputies for “inciting anti-democratic acts” after the assault on the headquarters of the three powers in Brazil last Sunday.

In a statement, the Public Ministry has requested the TSF to investigate the parliamentarians Andre Fernandes, Silvia Waiapiboth from the Liberal Party (PL) —the same formation as former president Jair Bolsonaro—, and also to the parliamentarian Clarissa Tercioof the conservative Progressive Party.

According to the petition, the three deputies are suspected of “inciting acts of violence and vandalism” through “social media posts before and during the invasions,” which could constitute the crime of “public incitement to crime.”

Two days before the acts, Congressman Fernandes posted a video on Twitter announcing the “first act against the Lula government”, which would take place over the weekend. He also posted a vandalized photo of the door of the office of Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

For his part, on the day of the assault, Tércio published a video on Instagram in which he instigated the Bolsonaristas. “We have just taken power. We are inside Congress. All the people are up here. This will go down in history, the history of my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren,” he said.

Likewise, Waiapi, close to former President Bolsonaro, encouraged the acts through posts on Instagram also on the day of the anti-democratic acts: “The people take over the Esplanade of the Ministries this Sunday! Seizure of power by the Brazilian people discontent with the government red”.
