A law that prohibits public officials from using TikTok in its devices was approved by the Congress of USA.

With a Republican majority, the entity vetoed the social network in the House of Representatives and the Senate, in a text that was ratified by Joe Biden last week.
The new federal law was passed after dozens of similar bans at the state or local level.
To regain the ability to be used on all US smartphones, TikTok USA may have to part company with ByteDance, its Chinese owner, as congressmen accuse the company of being used as a spy or propaganda tool.
Mike Gallagher, a Republican congressman, accused ByteDance of having ties to the Chinese Communist Party, something a company spokesman denied.
“It’s highly addictive and destructive, and we’re seeing disturbing data about the devastating impact of constant social media use, especially on young American men and women,” Gallagher told NBC News.
“We have to ask ourselves if we want the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to control what is about to become the most powerful media group in the United States,” he added.
Relations between TikTok and the United States became more complicated after a security and privacy scandal. ByteDance had to admit that employees improperly accessed user data to track journalists and identify the source of media leaks.
TikTok has been trying for months to find a long-term partnership with the US government through the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), but its attempt has been stalled as the FBI still considers the app a threat to national security. (YO)
