Ukrainian Army medics have successfully accomplished a complicated surgical operation. The surgeon of the Armed Forces Andriy Verba has achieved remove a grenade VOG embedded in the torso of a wounded soldier, and has managed to do it without the device exploding during the operation.
As reported from the Facebook profile of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the military surgeon was accompanied during the intervention by two sappers who controlled the safety of the patient himself and of the medical personnel at all times.
The surgeon in charge of this dangerous operation, Andriy Verba, is one of the “most experienced” in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the same post. The expert had to work without electrocoagulation, since “the grenade could detonate at any time“.
“The surgical intervention was a success, and the wounded soldier was sent for his subsequent rehabilitation and recovery,” they highlight in said publication.
