Hungary against further sanctions against Russia. The issue of nuclear technology is a “red line”

The politician pointed out that when the first package of sanctions against Russia was being prepared, it was said in Brussels that the restrictions could, on the one hand, bring the Russian economy to its knees, and, on the other hand, quickly end the war. “But the war is now eight months old and more brutal than ever, the European economy is struggling and inflation is making people’s money worth less and less,” said Peter Szijjarto.

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade explained that the Paks nuclear power plant provides one-third of Hungary’s energy production, and that the fuel elements must be supplied by Russian producers. – Nuclear fuel elements are a long-term guarantee of Hungary’s energy security – he stressed.

Meanwhile, in Budapest on Friday, several hundred people took part in a protest against the way Hungarian state media portrays the war in Ukraine. The demonstration was organized by one of the opposition parliamentarians. Historian Kristian Ungvary emphasized in his speech during the demonstration that the state media showed a false message about the war in Ukraine, and the heads of these media – agreeing to such a presentation of the matter – themselves support Russian aggression.
