A viral confusion has turned into the new slogan of the American extreme right to criticize President Joe Biden. “Let’s Go, Brandon” (Come on, Brandon) has become the fashionable song in anti-vaccine demonstrations and criticism of the president. The reason? The mistake of a reporter covering a car race.
“Brandon, tell me you’re listening to the chants of the crowd,” the reporter tells Brandon Brown, a NASCAR driver who had just won his first victory. However, what the fans were really exclaiming weren’t saved by Brown: it was “Give Joe Biden” (Fuck Joe Biden).
Now its “Let’s Go, Brandon!” it has become the most popular slogan in anti-vaccine demonstrations, republican political events and even institutional events. Republican Congressman Bill Posey exclaimed it during one of his speeches in the country’s House of Representatives. And Florida Governor Ron De Santis has referred to the Democratic President’s Administration as “The Brandon Administration”.
The motto is already printed on masks, T-shirts and merchandise of all kinds. Even on denial songs that are already climbing the charts.
