ANT restores registration service in Guayaquil, Quito and other cities in Ecuador

The ANT said that once the other municipalities and associations have secure connections, the service will be enabled in each of those cities.

The National Traffic Agency (ANT) reported that the vehicle registration system is fully operational in several locations in Ecuador.

The entity detailed that the server is already operational in Guayaquil, Quito, Loja, Puyango, Cañar, Cuenca, in addition to fifteen cantons in the country that make up the Commonwealth of the North (Esmeraldas, Carchi, Sucumbíos and Imbabura).

The ANT said that once the other municipalities and associations have secure connections, the service will be enabled in each of those cities.

On October 21, the ANT reported on the suspension of driver’s license registration and issuance services after a computer attack on the Axis 4.0 system.

As part of the restoration of services, the ANT reported that this Friday, the 5th, the delivery of driver’s licenses is expected at the Provincial Directorate of Pichincha, at its headquarters, to those who had their turn scheduled. Other appointments from previous dates will be rescheduled for the following week, it was indicated. “The delay in restoring the service is due to the fact that the ANT systems have not stopped suffering external attacks, which has forced us to maximize security.”, Indicated the entity, this Friday the 5th.

Before the holiday, the ANT issued a resolution to urge the municipalities and competent transit entities in the country’s cantons to avoid the collection of fines for digit 9 drivers, who were responsible for the registration process in October, according to scheduling. Likewise, the Ecuadorian Traffic Commission, the National Police and municipalities were asked to exempt the amount to be paid for the days spent in the vehicle retention yards. (I)
