The Brazilian authorities have announced the arrest of the former Minister of Justice and Public Security Anderson Torresin office during the Presidency of Jair Bolsonaro, and a former commander of the Military Police, Fabio Augusto Vieira.
Torres has confirmed that Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes has ordered his arrest and has authorized the search of his home.
“I have made the decision to interrupt my vacation (in the United States) and return to Brazil. I will appear before the Court and I will take care of my defense,” explained the former minister through his profile on the social network Twitter.

“I have always based my actions on ethics and legality. I believe in Brazilian justice and in the strength of the institutions. I am sure that the truth will prevail,” Torres assured.
The magistrate, for his part, has considered that the conduct of Torres and the ex-commander general of the Military Police are “extremely serious”since they can endanger the life of the president, ministers and parliamentarians.
Moraes has indicated that “absolutely nothing justifies the omission and collusion” of Torres and Vieira in the assault on public institutions in the past January the 8th. Likewise, he has assured that the position of both is “appalling” because there was predictability of the occurrence of violent events.
Bolsonaro is discharged
For his part, the former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro has left this Tuesday from the AdventHealth Celebration hospital, located on the outskirts of the US city of Orlando, against the recommendation of the medical team.
After being admitted during the day on Monday due to severe abdominal pain related to a stab wound he suffered during the 2018 electoral campaign, he would have left the hospital, despite the fact that the doctors had urged him to remain hospitalized for another three or four days, as reported by the Brazilian newspaper ‘O Globo’.
