COVID-19. Changes for traveling between China and Europe
Member States of the European Union have decided to recommend all passengers who travel to China from Europe and from China to European countries to wear a mask when traveling. It was also announced that “Member States agree to advise travelers arriving and departing from abroad, arriving or bound for China, as well as aircraft and airport personnel on personal hygiene and health measures.” It was also announced that member states should require passengers arriving from China to test negative, which should be done no more than 48 hours before departure from China. Member States have also been obliged to randomly screen passengers who arrive from China.
Airlines are not satisfied with the introduced restrictions
Earlier, the obligation to perform tests against COVID-19 for people arriving from Italy, Spain, France and the United States introduced the obligation to perform tests against COVID-19. Morocco, on the other hand, still does not allow passengers from China to enter the country. As reported by the airlines represented by A4E (Airlines for Europe) and IATA (International Air Transport Association), together with the airport organization ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International), the organizations “deplore the recommendation jointly agreed by EU Member States, which requires a negative COVID-19 test results for passengers traveling between China and the EU. According to them, “such a recommendation contradicts the assessment published by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) on January 3, 2023, which confirms that the current increase in COVID-19 cases in China should not affect the epidemiological situation of the situation This is due to the fact that variants of COVID-19 circulating in China are already present in the EU/EEA, as well as higher immunity acquired by the EU population, therefore systematic testing of travelers coming from China cannot be considered scientific and risk-based measure. At the same time, it was conveyed that “it is of the utmost importance that they are implemented by EU Member States in a completely uniform manner”.
Currently, many Polish airports still operate testing points for passengers, in particular, they concern people departing from our country.
