The rescue teams continue this Thursday the work to recover the corpse of the 10 year old boy that last Saturday he fell into a 35 meter deep hollow concrete pile in southern Vietnam.
The authorities, who yesterday announced the death of the child, are now trying to remove the pile in three piecesafter unsuccessfully trying to remove the entire structure in one piece, at a bridge construction site in Dong Thap province, VnExpress reported.
Last Saturday and the last day of the year, Thai Ly Hao Nam10 years old, went with three neighbors to collect metal at the construction site in Dong Thap when they fell into the hollow concrete pile just 25 centimeters in diameter.
Construction security cameras captured the moment when the child suddenly disappears by falling down the hole while walking on uneven terrain in the area.
After removing some of the earth surrounding the pile with the idea of extracting it, the crews abandoned the plan due to the possibility that the pile would break, according to VnExpress. Engineers have thought of various ways to be able to remove the pile, which is closed at the bottom end, using cranes and specialized equipment.
Since the accident occurred, some 350 rescuers, including police and firefighters, have moved to the scene to rescue the minor. Rescuers were pumping oxygen into the hole so the child could continue breathing and sending water.
Although at first they could hear him call for help, then they stopped receiving signs of life and, after a forensic examination, they declared him dead yesterday.
