Netanyahu sworn in for sixth time as Israeli prime minister, with far-right partner


His new associates from the extreme right include politicians with racist and homophobic speeches, such as Itamar Ben Gvir, who in the past was convicted of inciting racism and supporting a terrorist group.

Benjamin Netanyahu sworn in today for the sixth time as prime minister of Israel and for the first time with formations of the far right jewish supremacist as partners, although it repeats with the ultra-Orthodox parties, forming the most right-wing government since 1948, when the state was founded.

The Knesset has ratified with 63 favorable votes, out of a total of 120, the formation of the 37th Executive of Israel, headed by Netanyahu, leader of the right-wing Likud, who has been sworn in followed by the thirty ministers that make up his cabinet, only five women.

“I hear the constant cries of the opposition about ‘the end of the state’ or ‘the end of democracy’, members of the opposition, losing the elections is not the end of democracy, but the essence of democracy,” he said. Netanyahu in his speech prior to the vote, to the applause of his partners and the boos of the opposition.

The coalition agreements, negotiated until the last minute of the deadline, were presented on Thursday before the Knesset and include controversial points such as the annexation of west bank occupation, a judicial reform that undermines the independence of justice, restoring the death penalty for those convicted of terrorism, banning the Palestinian flag or more funding and power for the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community to the detriment of other religious groups.
