The Cuban dictator Miguel Diaz-Canel has encouraged this Sunday the confrontation in the streets of Cuba after thousands of citizens have taken to the streets of numerous cities and towns shouting “freedom!” Canel has made a call on Cuban television to “revolutionaries” so that they come out to defend the communist regime that the citizens cry out to overthrow. During the last hours, dozens of massive protests have taken place throughout Cuba demanding the end of the dictatorship that drowns Cubans and that, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the endemic corruption of its Government, has led the island to a health crisis without a history in its history.
«We call on all revolutionaries to take to the streets to defend the revolution in all places ”, declared Díaz-Canel in his speech, broadcast this Sunday afternoon on Cuban television. «We are not going to hand over the sovereignty of our Homeland», Has riveted. Following his call, hundreds of police officers as well as armed citizen militias have taken to the streets to arrest and confront the protesters calling for an end to the communist yoke.
The dictator has highlighted in his message that he had already warned of “the complexities of the current moments.” “I remind you that more than a year and a half ago when the second semester of 2019 began we had to explain that we were going to a difficult juncture,” he indicated, while blaming the United States Government for the situation, “headed by (Donald’s) administration Trump». Thus, he has referred to the “resurgence of the blockade (…) with the aim of suffocating our economy and that this would cause the longed-for massive social outbreak.” Díaz-Canel has referred to “Political destabilization actions” against Cuba by the United States and that would have intensified particularly during the pandemic.
Media opponents of the regime such as Martí Noticias, based in Miami, have reported a “popular uprising” in which “thousands of Cubans took to the streets” and has published various videos showing demonstrations on the Malecón in Havana, Santiago, Santa Clara, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Bayamo, Guantánamo, San José de las Lajas, Holguín, Cárdenas and also in places abroad, such as Puerta del Sol in Madrid.

“Freedom after 60 years of brutal dictatorship”
In Spain, numerous politicians have shown their support for Cubans who are fighting to end the dictatorship that Fidel Castro started and who, to this day, maintains corruption within power and suffocates citizens with repression and misery. Pablo Casado, leader of the Popular Party, has shown all his support “for the Cuban people who demand democracy and freedom after 60 years of brutal dictatorship” and has asked the Government of Spain, led by Pedro Sánchez, to demand “a peaceful transition that put an end to the Castro ruin ».

The US supports the “right to peaceful assembly”
The United States has shown its support for the “right to peaceful assembly” in Cuba before the protests that are taking place in different cities of the country and that have led the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, to call on the population to take to the streets to defend the revolution.
The Acting Undersecretary for the Western Hemisphere of the United States Department of State, Julie Chung, has launched a message on Twitter in which she commented that “peaceful protests are growing in Cuba” while “the Cuban people are exercising their right to the peaceful assembly. ‘ According to Chung, these protests are due to “concern about the increase in cases and deaths from COVID-19 and the medicine shortage». “We commend the many efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need,” he added through his Twitter account.
We are deeply concerned by “calls to combat” in #Cuba. We stand by the Cuban people’s right for peaceful assembly. We call for calm and condemn any violence.

Likewise, some North American congressmen have expressed themselves along the same lines, such as the Republican Mario Díaz Balart. “Now more than ever, the United States and the international community must support the Cuban people in their fight for freedom,” reads a statement shared on their Twitter account.
The town of #Cuba is in the streets demanding freedom. The tyranny will use the fiercest violence to suppress it. It is urgent that the USA and the international community offer maximum solidarity to the Cuban people.
