The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presented on Wednesday the draft of the ninth package of sanctions against Russia. They hit, among others, Russian banks, the chemical sector, IT and those responsible for kidnapping Ukrainian children and transporting them deep into Russia.
– We will make Russia pay for the atrocity – said the head of the Commission, informing that about 200 people, companies and institutions are to be subject to sanctions.

The list also includes the military, ministers, members of the State Duma and other companies from the defense sector. EU countries are expected to adopt a new package of sanctions by the end of this week.

The Polish ambassador to the European Union, Andrzej Sadoś, said on Thursday that the latest draft of sanctions against Russia contains many proposals presented by Poland and the Baltic states.
– We are significantly expanding the list of so-called dual-use items. We are expanding the list of entities working for the Russian war machine, we are introducing a ban on investments in the Russian mining industry. We are placing on the sanction lists almost 200 people and entities, among others, involved in the heinous practice of kidnapping and deporting Ukrainian children, said the ambassador.
The ambassador admitted that there was no support for some of the proposals of Poland and the Baltic states. – Unanimity is needed, but we do not forget about our postulates – emphasized Andrzej Sadoś. According to the ambassador, the latest sanctions package will be adopted on Friday and come into force over the weekend, which is as expected.
