– There is a large oversupply of vaccines against . Continuing the implementation of contracts for their supply is illogical – . He explained that countries now have a different epidemic situation and feel that buying “doesn’t make sense.”

Coronavirus. Niedzielski: Vaccine surpluses are sufficient for the near future

– Poland signaled in the first half of 2022 that such a risk exists. We need to face this problem realistically and redefine contracts, he pointed out. He added that other countries were joining this point of view.

More about the coronavirus

– We presented our perspective, where we used the force majeure clause to not accept any deliveries in the near future – said the head of the Ministry of Health.

Adam Niedzielski: We propose to extend the term of the contracts

– No deliveries should be made under these contracts until the contract is renegotiated, i.e. a change in terms, which we, as Poland, have been calling for for a long time. We propose to extend the duration of the contracts so that what is to be delivered is spread over a longer period of time, so that we receive these vaccines as needed – said Adam Niedzielski.

He stressed that further batches of vaccines cannot be delivered regardless of the epidemic situation, which is different in each country. The head of the Ministry of Health added that under pressure from EU capitals, the European Commission announced the convening of an extraordinary meeting on this matter with representatives of the Member States.
