Zelensky warns of the existence of 1.5 million people without electricity in Odessa due to the Russian attacks

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskyhas denounced an “acute shortage” of energy in several regions caused by the Russian attacks, especially Odessawhere more than 1.5 million people are without electricity.

“The situation in the Odessa region is very difficult.. After the overnight attack by Iranian drones, Odessa and other cities and towns in the region are in the dark. So far, more than 1.5 million people in Odessa are without electricity. Only critical infrastructure is connected and to the extent that it is possible to supply electricity,” Zelensky said.

In all, he added in his usual late-night speech, the Russians used 15 Shahed drones against Odessa of which the defenders managed to shoot down 10. The impacts were “critical, so it takes more than a period of time to restore electricity… It doesn’t take hours, but a few days,” he added.

In general, both emergency and stabilization power outages continue in various regions of Ukraine, according to Zelensky. “The power system is now, to put it mildly, far from a normal state: there is an acute shortage in the system. That’s why there are blocked hours. The largest number is in the Lviv, Vinnytsia, kyiv, Ternopil, Sumy, Zakarpattia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky regions and in the city of kyiv.”

The Ukrainian president stated that almost every day in different regions there are bombings, there are missile attacks, with drones and power facilities are affected on an almost daily basis. Therefore, he again asked that all Citizens have to reduce electricity consumption.
