Angela Merkel demands restrictions for those not vaccinated against Covid-19 due to a rise in infections

As of Monday, 69.4% of the population of Germany had been vaccinated against the covid, 66.7% with the full schedule.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded this Tuesday, November 2, apply restrictions for those not vaccinated from COVID-19 given the increase in infections in the country, according to several television channels.

The chancellor advocated establishing limitations for the unvaccinated during a meeting of the top leadership of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Berlin.

According to the private television channels NTV and RTL, citing party sources, Merkel was very concerned about the increase in infections and defended “strong restrictions”, without excluding that the unvaccinated must undergo daily tests to go to work.

The NTV chain ventured other limitations, such as the possible obligation to wear a mask at work, and indicated that Merkel has the support of what will most likely be the next German Chancellor, the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz.

The CDU leadership met today in Berlin to establish the roadmap that will lead to the renewal of the party’s leadership, after the defeat of its candidate, Armin Laschet, in the elections last September.

As of Monday, 69.4% of the population of Germany had been vaccinated against the covid, 66.7% with the full schedule.

The cumulative incidence in seven days fell slightly for the first time in days and stands in the whole of Germany at 153.7 new infections with coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants, and active cases stand at about 221,600.

The upward trend in infections also worries the representatives of the employers, who demanded today the right to know whether or not employees are vaccinated or if they have overcome the covid. (I)
