The foreign ministers of the European Union have reached this Monday a political agreement to commit another 500 million euros to finance the arms purchase for Ukrainewhich raises the bloc’s support for kyiv in the face of the Russian invasion to at least €2.5 billion in the five months that the war has already lasted.

This has been advanced by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in a message broadcast through his social networks to “celebrate the political agreement” of the Twenty-seven to disburse a fifth tranche of aid to the Government of Volodimir Zelenski.

At the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, it was confirmed that there is the necessary “will and consensus” to maintain support for Ukraine and, therefore, release the 500 million euros, although the formal adoption has not been still produced because it requires additional parliamentary procedures in some member states, European sources have qualified Europa Press.
