Fever, the leading leisure and entertainment discovery platform, has announced a new hire, that follows online objectives set at the beginning of the year: global expansion and talent attraction. The ex-Netflix and Facebook Darío García García He has returned to Spain after more than 10 years abroad as Vice President of Data for Fever and will be in charge of reinforcing technology in the areas of data and machine learning.
Darío García García is a Telecommunications Engineer from the University of Cantabria and has a PhD from the Carlos III University of Madrid, specializing in Machine Learning. Very soon he saw the need to leave Spain in order to develop professionally in his area, first in Australia working as a researcher at the Australian National University and later leading the Data Science team for the Commonwealth Bank. From Australia he jumped to the United States, where for almost 6 years, he held different positions of responsibility in applied research within the areas of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. After his passage through the social network, Darío came to Netflix where he was director of research in Machine Learning.
“I have always followed the Spanish ecosystem very closely, and specifically to Fever these last 4 years. It’s the first time I’ve seen such a clear opportunity. They have grown more than 10 times in these years, even despite the pandemic, and it is a company with a vocation for global leadership”, considered García, who added: “Fever is a clear example of the evolution of the digital ecosystem and of how today Spain has become a hub of reference and we can compete with Silicon Valley or Israel”.
For the new vice president of Data, it is “precisely through companies like Fever as Spain has the opportunity to create a community of reference in terms of Data Science, Machine Learning and Technological Development in general”. From the company they assure: “Being able to count on profiles like Darío’s is not only key in executive and development matters, it is also key to continue with the objective to attract talent and, as he himself comments, to help the Spanish ecosystem in general”.
Currently, Fever has more than 100 open positions in its Madrid offices, located in the central neighborhood of Las Cortes in front of the Congress of Deputies. To facilitate this attraction of talent and strengthen teams, Fever announced a few weeks ago the Engineering Excellence Scholarships, endowed with up to 24,000 euros per yearwhich will be awarded to final year engineering students with an excellent track record.
