Google will ask what you are driving and suggest a path that is worthwhile for you. There will be a new feature in Maps

Google Maps has come a long way in the last few years and from an application not very liked by drivers, it has become one of the basic apps in the car. Recently, many facilities for motorists have been introduced there.

Another is to propose the most economical (or – if you prefer – ecological) route, as long as it is not noticeably longer than the normal one. Google chooses it not only on the basis of the distance, but also the flow of traffic or the number of hills to overcome.

Now the company is working on new options that will save even more on fuel or electricity costs. As reported in the latest beta version (11.39) of the Google Maps application, it is possible to select the type of car the user travels most often.

You can choose a car with a gasoline, diesel, hybrid and electric engine. Based on the information on the type of drive used in the vehicle, Maps are to select the most economical and ecological route. And often it won’t be the shortest route at all.

As we well know, the characteristics of internal combustion and electric engines make the former ideal for routes, and the latter for driving around the city. It may therefore turn out that an electrician squeezing through a jammed center will use less energy than driving the bypass. However, it will be quite the opposite in the case of a car powered by gasoline or diesel.

Google Maps is supposed to calculate independently what will pay off more and suggest various options for the driver. Of course, the selected engine type can be changed if required.

For now, the function is being tested and it is not known when it will go to the finished version of the application. You can also suspect that at the beginning it may appear only for some users or in selected countries (usually at the beginning in the USA). Over time, new functions also appear in Poland and we hope that it will also be the case in this case.
