Joao Rojas returned to Guayaquil to undergo an operation

Ecuadorian winger Joao Rojas arrived in Guayaquil on Tuesday afternoon, where he will undergo surgery for an injury to his left knee.

On Saturday, July 9, he entered in the 65th minute of the game that Monterrey beat America 3-2 as homeowner, for the second day of the Apertura 2022 tournament. But the joy of the Ourense striker lasted 22 minutes. An anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee, suffered at 87 minutes, caused him to leave.

The striped box had already anticipated on Monday, in a statement, that the player would return to Ecuador to undergo surgery.

“After confirming the severity of the injury to his left knee, Ecuadorian Joao Rojas will return to his native country to undergo cruciate ligament surgery that will force him to miss the entire Apertura 2022 with Rayados de Monterrey.”

And the following was disclosed: “The Monterrey Rayados Soccer Club informs that the surgery of player Joao Rojas will be performed in Ecuador, under the supervision of a member of the Institution’s medical staff. The player suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during the Rayados vs. America held on Saturday, July 9.”

The 24-year-old soccer player arrived in the city this afternoon, without giving a statement to the media that went to cover his arrival at the José Joaquín de Olmedo airport.

The date of the procedure to which Rojas will undergo and the time he will have to recover are still unknown. (D)
