Mandatory sticker on the windshield from May 4th. For the lack of even 500 zlotys of a fine

The regulation on the model of a sticker for vehicles entitled to enter was signed on March 31, 2022, but did not enter into force until the beginning of May. “Thanks to the introduced changes, owners of low and zero-emission vehicles, who do not have special plates, will be able to enter zones all over Poland” – he informed.

In December 2021, the regulations on clean transport zones came into force. Individual municipalities may designate zones to which only cars that meet certain requirements will be allowed to enter. The purpose of the green sticker is to help verify them. It will act as an entry ticket to clean transport zones throughout. This facilitation will be felt especially by drivers whose vehicles met the requirements in one commune and will not have to obtain separate permits to enter the next ones.

Permission to enter clean air zones will be granted on the basis of the year of production or the type of fuel. The stickers will have a symbol of a sign indicating a clean transport zone (D-54) to make it more legible, as well as information about the registration number, name of the municipality establishing the clean transport zone and information whether the sticker has been issued with the exception of some municipalities from clean zones.

As the media note, the method of issuing the stickers will be determined by each municipal council, however although the law went into effect on May 4, drivers have still not been informed where to purchase such a sticker. Such information will appear in the communes only after the councils pass the relevant resolutions which will deal with the creation of the zone. It is worth emphasizing that no such zone exists in Poland yetbut now you have to remember that after creating them, you will be punished for entering the zone without the required sticker.

Clean air zone entry sticker. How much is the fine for the lack of it?

The cost of issuing the sticker is not to exceed PLN 5. The manner of issuing the stickers will be determined by the commune council in a resolution in which it will establish the zone. Upon receipt of the sticker, it should be affixed to the lower left corner of the vehicle’s windshield. Lack of proper signage when entering the clean transport area will work. This is regulated by Art. 96c. Of the Code of Petty Offenses: “Whoever does not comply with the ban on entering the clean transport zone, is subject to a fine of up to PLN 500”.
