Creators using the “paid slots” and “super follows” features on Twitter will now be able to get paid on USD Coin, a so-called stable cryptocurrencywhose price is pegged to the US dollar.

Twitter launched these two features in 2021 to give its most popular creators a way to earn money directly from the platform.

Selected users will now have the option to add a cryptocurrency wallet as a payment method and exchange their balance in other currencies.

Transfers will be made through the Stripe Connect payment system, which is currently used to send money to more than 70 countries.

Stripe has indicated that it wants to add more cryptocurrencies in the future.

Twitter is facing a takeover bid from billionaire Tesla boss Elon Musk. On his Twitter account, with nearly 83 million followers, Musk often touts the merits of decentralized digital currencies, including the originally parodic cryptocurrency Dogecoin. (I)
