Android Authority: call recording apps will disappear from Google Play from May 11

Services for recording calls will disappear from the app store for Android smartphones. This is reported by the publication Android Authority.

Google will remove phone call recording apps from its digital store. This is due to the new guidelines for developers, which will take effect from May 11th. According to journalists, from this day on, these programs will be banned – applications will stop working, they will not be published on Google Play.

Experts believe that Google’s decision is due to the fact that in different regions there are different laws that allow or prohibit the recording of telephone conversations. This feature was blocked back in Android 10, and therefore a large number of services with this option appeared on Google Play.

At the same time, Google explained that phone owners will not be able to use only third-party recording applications. If the program for recording conversations is built into the firmware of the smartphone, then the application will continue to work. So, the built-in call recording function is present in Google Pixel and Xiaomi devices.

Earlier it became known that Google will restrict the installation of old applications on devices with current versions of Android. The company said that the new mechanisms will be able to protect users from installing old programs that do not have the necessary protection tools.
