Apple explains the lack of a touchscreen in laptops

Apple executives explained why the company’s line of laptops lacks touchscreen models. Reported by The Wall Street Journal.

In a conversation with journalist Joanna Stern, company representatives answered questions about the new MacBook Pro. For example, Apple vice president John Ternus explained that Apple has not yet released a laptop with a touch screen, since there is already an iPad for such purposes. “It’s fully optimized for that,” Ternus noted.

Company spokesman Tom Boger also explained why the new MacBook Pro lacks the Face ID biometric sensor, although the laptops have a “monobrow”. Boger emphasized that the user’s hands are always on the keyboard, so the unlocking method using the Touch ID fingerprint sensor is more convenient.

“We are constantly listening to our customers,” Boger replied when asked by Stern about why the company decided to return the MagSafe magnetic charger and ports and removed the Touch Bar.

Earlier, the first buyers of MacBook Pro complained about problems with the “monobrow”. In response, Apple said that the screen cutout can be hidden using special settings.
