Anonymous in February this year. declared a cyber war against Russia after the country militarily attacked Ukraine. The hacker collective took the side of the defending state and announced that it would try by all means to make life difficult for the Russian authorities, propaganda media and companies associated with the Putin regime.
Over 600,000 have leaked. e-mails. Almost half from one ministry
Now, hackers have bragged about another victory in the cyber war against the Russians on social media. One of the groups operating under Anonymous (DDoSecrets) took over and made available on the network a trifle of 700 GB of government data. Among them, there were 600 thousand. e-mail messages from mailboxes belonging to authorities, offices and public administration.
As noted by “Anonymous”, the largest package of data was stolen from the Russian Ministry of Culture, ie the ministry that creates policy in Russia regarding art, cinematography, archives, copyrights, cultural heritage and censorship. That’s 446 GB of various data, including 230 thousand. e-mails, i.e. slightly more than 1/3 of all disclosed messages.
The hackers noted that the group also obtained a large part of the data as a result of the attack on the administration of the city of Blagoveshchensk located in the eastern part of Russia, near the border with China. That’s 230 thousand. emails weighing 150 GB and sent between 2019-2022. Another large package (130,000 messages from 2016-2022 weighing 116 GB) was stolen – as noted – the governor of the Tver Oblast (near the border with Belarus) and his employees appointed by Putin.
Anonymous has been stealing data from Russians for weeks
This is yet another time when “Anonymous” boasts of successfully stealing state data from Russia. Already a day after the military attack on Ukraine, and some government websites did not work at all for the next few days. Hackers also claim that they broke into the Central Bank of Russia and monitoring the Kremlin.
The collective also makes life difficult for companies that do not want to withdraw from Russia despite the war. As hackers have repeatedly pointed out, such entrepreneurs support the Russian invasion with taxes. Anonymous in late March
