Apple patents iPhone sleep monitoring technology
Apple has patented a technology for tracking sleep quality through the iPhone, HomePod and other gadgets. This is reported by Appleinsider.
The corresponding invention was found in the database of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In the patent “Method and System of Physiological Monitoring”, Apple engineers proposed to monitor the quality of users’ sleep using gadgets. According to the concept described by experts, various brand devices can record and analyze the sounds of users – breathing and snoring, which they emit during sleep.
“Physiological monitoring allows devices that do not require the measurement of electrocardiography, electroencephalography or other electrophysiological signals with uncomfortable electrodes,” the document says. In theory, any Apple devices — iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac or HomePod mini — can monitor the state of users during their holidays.
The authors emphasized that devices can collect incorrect statistics when collecting information from two people at the same time – in this case, the sounds may overlap. Experts suggested using individual sensors to collect more accurate data, which will transmit information to Apple devices.
In early February, journalists from Patently Apple discovered online a patent for an Apple computer with a ceramic case. The new device does not have physical buttons – they are replaced by touch controls.
