Digital property is a concept that has had exponential growth today, thanks to the development of technology in the purchase and sale of products and services, to the way of working, studying and living day to day. At the asset level, both tangible and digital goods can now be obtained, which have become quite attractive to the consumer. NFTs make it possible to acquire digital goods and go to a next level of artistic consumption with the help of blockchain.
In Ecuador and Latin America it is already possible to have a collection of art, painting, 2D and 3D modeling, photography, literature, music and videos. Capitalika, a cryptocurrency platform that has developed a marketplace eco-friendly for Non-Fungible Tokens or NFT allows all of these that we have mentioned. This will make it possible for lovers of this ecosystem and the general public to buy, sell, collect or auction these digital assets. In addition, that national and international artists can certify their creations on a secure platform.
At Doctor Tecno we have had the opportunity to talk with Carlos Galarza, co-founder and director of Capitalika, and these were some of his responses.
When was it created and with what objective was this initiative born?
The idea of the project was born in 2017 when Carlos Galarza Ponce identified a problem in the crypto community of the time, being a growing community, its members had problems buying and selling cryptocurrencies safely.
So Capitalika emerges as an opportunity to formalize the cryptocurrency market by buying and selling it through banking. Before the platform is released to the public, Carlos Ugalde, an expert in the area, joins the team as co-founder fintech, and so it starts on the market in July 2018.
This initiative makes it possible to eliminate both entry and exit barriers to the crypto world for users who are interested in entering this universe.
On the other hand, through Capitalika you can acquire digital property, that is, Ecuadorian artists can exhibit their works at no cost on a secure portal and thus carry out a business of buying, selling, auctioning with the proper certificates of legitimacy.
Being a apps of digital property in the country that is recently opening up in the market, do you have a reference to the movement of this type of initiatives worldwide? Is the purchase, sale and auction of digital art receptive?
Capitalika decides to enter the world of NFTs and the ownership of digital assets to support artists so that they can digitize their works.
There are platforms at an international level, they stand out in Europe and the United States, but Capitalika is a pioneer in the region by having its marketplace both NFT and eco-NFT. These are 99% more efficient than regular NFTs, generating 1% pollution relative to the others.
The initiative has been very well received, thanks to its high receptivity by users and collectors, who can already acquire digital works. We are sure that they will support the work of our artists and that they will reach all corners of the world.
At the moment how many artists have uploaded their art on the apps? How much are the exhibited works valued?
We currently have registered in our marketplace works by 18 Ecuadorian artists from various types of categories, including digital art, traditional art, photography, sports and pets.
In this sense, among the most recognized artists in the medium we have Ramiro Albán, whose work can be found in the homes of Hollywood stars such as Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, William Shatner, among others. Ramiro is an activist for the rights of animals, especially dogs. His job is to portray the aura of the pet and its connection to its human.
Another of the artists is Franz del Castillo, winner of the Guinness record for caricaturing 163 people in one hour, his work is the Funky Tokenz. Likewise, we have the privilege of exhibiting the work of one of the youngest crypto-artists in all of Latin America, Matías Albán. We also have Daniel Rodríguez Briones, an artist from Quito who has held several exhibitions in the United States, where his minimalist art, praised at Wynwood Arts, is valued internationally.
The works of art are valued between $50 and $4,500 and include the physical work and augmented reality. Everything will depend on the relevance of the work in terms of the artist and the proposal presented.
Is there a possibility of being scammed by the works? Is it safe to buy on-line digital art?
Buying NFTs is completely safe, as they are backed by technology blockchain. This is foolproof technology. What is recommended as a platform is that digital wallets, accounts and access codes be managed responsibly, since, when this data is exposed, anyone can have access to your digital assets. As Capitalika has invested in security, in addition to access codes and a token, the account is protected by sending a unique pin to the email. By having three security filters, the user has the support that their digital assets are protected.
Once I have bought an NFT, can I sell what I bought at a higher cost? Can Capitalika be used as an investment for sale later at a higher cost?
Many of the collectors and investors buy NFTs expecting a market appreciation, the vast majority of works increase their value and they can be sold through the platform at the time they want. They can do it by direct sale or auction it passing to the domain of the highest bidder.
The rise of digital assets in the world is generating a revaluation of listed works, which becomes an excellent investment opportunity for those who want to enter this world. (I)
