Israel today suffered a Widespread cyberattack against government websitesreported today the Ministry of Communications, in what local media described as one of the most serious in the country’s history.
“The Minister of Communications, Yoaz Hendel, is conducting a situation assessment with the Ministry’s emergency team regarding the widespread cyberattack on government Internet sites.”said an official statement today, which indicates that “the communications companies are working to recover the services, which are gradually returning.
The Ministry will continue to assess the situation until regular operations are fully restored,” Communications added.
On the other hand, the National Cybernetic Authority and the National Cybernetic System indicated in a statement that “in the last few hours a denial of service attack on a communications provider was identified, for which access to several sites was temporarily denied, including government sites.
According to sources quoted by the daily Haaretz, The attack is one of the most serious in the history of the State of Israel and affected the official portals of the Ministries of the Interior, Health, Justice and Social Welfare, as well as the Prime Minister’s Office.
So far, no official information has been released about the magnitude or consequences of the incident or about those who may be responsible. (I)
