Apple presents the iPhone SE 2022. There is a powerful processor. But the design straight from the previous decade

We are after the conference, at which Apple showed a handful of news with a bitten apple on the housing. The Americans presented, inter alia, Pada Air with M1 chip and 5 support, new Mac Studio computer for special tasks, Studio Display monitor (for which we will be able to buy a cable for PLN 700) and the next, third generation iPhone SE. The latter product aroused the greatest emotions among consumers.

Looking at the press photos of the iPhone SE 2022, you may wonder if it is really graphics depicting the new equipment. At first glance, this phone does not differ at all from its predecessor from 2020 and many Apple phones from years ago.

It looks as if Apple has packed the new smartphone in a casing taken out of the inventory, which has been lying around for a good five years. It was then, in 2017, that the rounded edges of the display were presented.

So we have a huge, unused space around the screen, a round, “soap dish” design (Apple calls it iconic), a physical button with Touch ID under the display and a single, tiny camera eye on the back. The iPhones 6, 7 and 8 from 2014, 2016 and 2017 looked almost the same (except for the iPhone SE 2020).

The changes are not outside, but inside

What is not visible at first glance is hidden inside. Apple actually refreshed the specification of the new iPhone SE using the hellishly strong A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 shown last year. You can suspect that this processor will be the strongest element of the iPhone SE.

Apart from it, the specification does not differ from the predecessor presented two years ago. The Retina screen has a diagonal of 4.7 inches and a basic resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels, the camera is only one and it is a 12-megapixel matrix with a wide-angle lens with f / 1.8 light with optical image stabilization.

There is also the already mentioned button with Touch ID for unlocking the screen with a fingerprint, 5G network support, which is already standard on this shelf, an inductive charging option and a sealed housing confirmed with IP67 certification.

Traditionally, Apple did not boast of information on the amount of RAM and battery capacity. It is only known that the 20 W charger is to charge the smartphone up to 50 percent. in 30 minutes.

Prices for the new iPhone SE? Tall but bearable

The new iPhone SE will be available in three memory versions, which of course differ in price:

• iPhone SE 64 GB – PLN 2299
• iPhone SE 128 GB – PLN 2549
• iPhone SE 256 GB – 3049 PLN

So it is not cheap, especially when we are talking about the option with the largest available memory. On the other hand, the price of the cheapest model is attractive considering the specification offered. The new iPhone will be available in Poland from March 18. Advance sale starts on March 11 at 14.
