Graphics card prices have dropped

Prices for AMD and Nvidia graphics cards in the European region have fallen sharply. This is reported by the German edition of 3DCenter.

Journalists noticed that the cost of video cards from Nvidia and AMD in Germany fell to a record level – the last time such a low price was recorded at the beginning of 2021. The RTX 3000 series and Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards are reported to be 41 percent and 35 percent higher than the recommended retail price, respectively. A year earlier, the cost of AMD and Nvidia video cards was 42 and 34 percent higher than the RRP, respectively.

“Of course, this is still more than you should pay for GPUs, but these are the lowest prices we have seen since January 2021,” the authors noted. The specialists noticed that the prices of video cards in Europe have been falling since December 12, when they were priced at about 80 percent above the RRP.

According to statistics, the highest prices for devices were recorded in May 2021. Then the cost of AMD and Nvidia graphics cards exceeded the recommended retail price by 116 and 218 percent, respectively.

The authors emphasized that the price decline is partly due to the cryptocurrency market, as video cards are used for mining. Analysts drew attention to the fall in the Ethereum rate.

In mid-February, an expert in the field of computer technology, Pavel Sinyakov, said that the shortage in the video card market was caused by mining, as they are used to mine cryptocurrency. According to the specialist, the shortage is eliminated in two ways: either by falling demand or by increasing production.
