Samsung confirmed that during the attack on the company’s servers, internal data of Galaxy smartphones were stolen, among other things. It is reported by Bloomberg.
The sources said that the source code of the Galaxy smartphone software, which is used to support the encryption and biometric system functions on the brand’s phones, was stolen as a result of a hacker attack.
“According to our initial analysis, the hack was leaking source code data related to the operation of Galaxy devices, but does not include the personal data of our consumers or employees,” Samsung said. The company promised to investigate and take measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
At the same time, the company did not specify that the stolen data was related to encryption and biometrics. Also, the corporation did not confirm, but did not deny the information about the identities of the hackers who carried out the attack. Lapsus$ hacker group claimed responsibility for hacking Samsung equipment. According to journalists, the same group had previously attacked Nvidia servers.
On March 5, it became known that hackers hacked into Samsung’s servers and gained access to tens of gigabytes of confidential user data. It is clarified that the stolen data was posted in the public domain.
