The creators of the popular Geekbench benchmark excluded Samsung flagships from the performance rating due to cheating. This is reported by the publication Android Police.
Representatives of the service said that they had disabled access to Geekbench for some Samsung smartphones. The popular benchmark is designed to measure the power of mobile devices. The statement explains that the company came to such a measure as a reaction to the manipulation of tests. The creators of Geekbench said that flagship smartphones in benchmarks showed maximum performance, although the power of devices was limited when working in other applications.

“We view this as test manipulation as major test applications, including Geekbench, have been affected by this service,” the post reads. The authors were referring to the Samsung Game Optimizing Service (GOS), which optimizes the performance of the brand’s smartphones.
Geekbench decided to exclude all new flagships of the Galaxy S22 series, as well as devices included in the Galaxy S21, S20 and S10 lines, from testing. At the same time, users will be able to measure the performance of Galaxy Note and Galaxy A series devices.
Journalists noted that Geekbench had previously restricted access to its service for a number of devices. So, in 2020, the service disconnected OnePlus devices on OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro from the rating of the most powerful smartphones.
In early March, enthusiasts accused Samsung of deliberately slowing down app performance on their smartphones. In the list of programs that were subject to slowdown, they found Microsoft Office services, Netflix, Google Keep, TikTok and Samsung’s built-in applications.
