The race was held on Monday, March 7, in the Yaroslavl region. The Russian covered a distance of 25 kilometers in 1 hour, 1 minute and 40 seconds. Nikita Khabarov finished second, losing 59 seconds to the winner. Artem Nikolaev rounded out the top three with a lag of 1 minute and 1 second.
On March 6, Bolshunov won the Demino 50 km marathon in the classic style. The athlete was ahead of the nearest pursuer by almost four minutes.
On March 1, the Norwegian Ski Federation banned Russian athletes from participating in competitions held in the country. After that, the International Ski Federation (FIS) extended the ban to all competitions under the auspices of the organization.
