What smartphone will we buy today for PLN 1000? We decided to check it out [PODCAST]

“What smartphone do you recommend up to PLN 1000?” – we have heard this question many times recently. Contrary to the manufacturers’ wishes, most customers are not interested in buying a model for PLN 3-4,000. The most popular smartphones are much cheaper.

TechnoTerapia is a technological podcast of Gazeta.pl. In the latest episode, Daniel Maikowski and Robert Kędzierski talk about what we should pay attention to when buying a new smartphone.

Smartphone for 1000-1100 PLN. What to look for?

Screen – in the budget up to PLN 1000-1100, we are looking for a smartphone with an IPS screen with FullHD + resolution, although in some devices from this shelf you can already find much better AMOLED displays. When it comes to the screen refresh rate, it is difficult to count on anything more than 60 Hz, although there are of course nice surprises, which also found their way to our list.

Processor – we are looking for a mid-range layout Snapdragon (e.g. 860 or 690), which will offer us decent performance. When it comes to memory, the more the better. For Android smartphones, 4 GB is the absolute minimum, but 6 GB is worth aiming for. We will also pay attention to the RAM speed and the amount of internal memory (128 GB seems to be the optimal solution).

The camera – Manufacturers increasingly flood us with cameras with 3 or even 4 lenses. Remember that the number of “eyes” does not have to translate into the quality of the photos. The main lens and the matrix used in it play a key role. So let’s pay attention to quality, not quantity.

Battery – We are looking for a smartphone with a 4000-5000 mAh battery. It is worth noting that the battery is uneven. Therefore, before making a purchase decision, it is worth taking a look at the tests to see how the battery performs in practice. Let’s look for smartphones with fast charging and wireless charging – they are extremely useful “extras”.

System – There is not much choice. In this price category, we can find Android smartphones, because even the cheapest iPhones are on the higher price range. Let’s look for devices with the latest version of Android – at the moment it is Android 11, although Google has already officially released version 12, which will soon be included in the latest smartphones.

What else should you pay attention to?

A good mid-range smartphone should also have a module NFC, Dual SIM connector, and also – at least partially – water resistance. Support for networks 5G will be a nice addition but shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Adaptation of 5G in Poland is still quite slow.

Let’s also pay attention to the build quality of the device itself. Although this shelf is dominated by smartphones made of plastic, you can also find pearls with backs made of glass or with an aluminum frame that strengthens the entire structure.
