“Flexible screen technology is really interesting in terms of what gives a new feel to the device and we get a larger screen with a fairly compact device size. But it is impossible to say that it will become mass and widespread in the coming years. Devices of this kind have a limited resource. In addition, the technology is not so convenient for everyone to massively switch to it,” said Pobyvanets.

In his opinion, the flexible screen technology is still crude. Users of those devices that are already on sale are faced with the fact that creases appear on the screen. In addition, since the technology is not mass-produced, it is expensive. Apple will have to refine it, make it convenient and practical, says Pobyvanets. Release now expensive devices that will not be popular, Apple can not, said the specialist.

But it is not worth ruling out that Apple is testing a technology with a folding screen. “Rumors that the company is working on a foldable screen have been around for a long time, and almost every month there are some guesses about this. I do not rule out that tests are underway. Since Apple is a corporation that will be very costly to make mistakes both in terms of reputational risks and in terms of changing user perception, then most likely it will be quite a long period, ”the mobile device and gadget specialist suggested.

He believes that Apple is focusing on the development of standalone smartwatches and augmented reality glasses. The world of smartphones, the expert claims, is predictable. New technologies appear in it less and less. “We need devices that would help a person disconnect from reality or supplement it. There is a request for this. A phone with a folding screen is unlikely to help here, ”said Pobyvanets.

In the fall, Apple plans to introduce several product lines, not counting the iPhone 14 series devices. The main release of the fall will be the flagships of the iPhone 14 series. In addition to smartphones, Apple will introduce a series of low-cost iPads and a new generation of iPad Pro.
