The Russians warned about the danger of wearing out the SIM card

The expert of the telecommunications company Yota Grigory Lysenko warned the Russians about the danger of physical deterioration of the SIM card. He told in an interview with Sputnik radio how often it needs to be changed.

The specialist explained that the wear of the SIM card can lead to a decrease in the quality of communication and loss of data. He advised changing it every four or five years.

“A SIM card may become obsolete due to the physical deterioration of memory cells. For understanding: a SIM card, like a hard drive of a computer or smartphone, has memory, information comes to it and data is stored. It takes 10-15 years for a SIM card to fail due to wear and tear. However, I recommend changing SIM cards as a preventive measure. This should be done once every four to five years,” Lysenko explained.

According to him, not always a SIM-card can last even four years, some change them more often.

Earlier in January, specialists from the American corporation Qualcomm introduced a smartphone without a physical SIM card. The prototype does not have a slot for a physical SIM card and a programmable eSIM card, the integrated SIM card module (Integrated SIM, iSIM) is built into the main processor of the smartphone.
