Kulesza’s daring plan! It goes all out on the new coach

Kulesza actually wants Shevchenko! And he has a crazy plan to get him

Until recently, even Kulesza’s close associates did not believe in bringing the legend of Ukrainian football. .

It was also not believed in Ukraine. The Ukrainians reminded that Shevchenko has still not terminated the contract with Genoa, and after the episode in Italy, he would not really like to hurry back to work.

However, as we learn, Kulesza decided to take the risk. In fact, he contacted Shevchenko and the two gentlemen came to an agreement on the potential acquisition of the white-and-reds. Contrary to reports from Ukraine, Shevchenko would be interested in this challenge, the more so that he would start his work with a play-off with Russia in Moscow, and it is known how important and prestigious this competition is for Ukraine.

For Andriy Shevchenko to take over the Polish national team, a few more conditions have to be met. The first is to ensure the salary of a Ukrainian who does not want to earn as much as EUR 3 million, but as much as in Italian Genoa, i.e. around EUR 2.3-2.5 million.

This amount is still definitely too high for the Polish Football Association, but Kulesza has to find a solution for this as well. It may be a model similar to the one Shevchenko had in Ukraine, where with $ 3 million. the salary of the Ukrainian union paid 720,000, and the rest of the football legend received from sponsors.

In the past, the Polish Football Association used such a solution once, when the “Tyskie” company contributed to the contract of Leo Beenhakker. Meanwhile, Shevchenko has a marketing value much greater than the Dutch – not only because of the huge achievements as a football player, but also a large number of his compatriots living and working in Poland.

A bigger problem concerns the termination of Shevchenko’s contract with Genoa. The Ukrainian does not want to give up the money he is entitled to under the contract with the Italian club valid until June 2024. It is over 6 million euros, and you need to add compensation from Genoa for breaking the contract.

Therefore, Genoa only removed him from leading the team. In order to be able to take over the Polish national team, Shevchenko has to terminate the contract with the Italian club. Italians will want to use this fact to pain, which may mean a series of difficult talks and in the end thwart the plans of the Polish Football Association.

A madman or a genius. Kulesza goes “all-in”

Kulesza realizes that apart from “Szewa”, one would have to bring in his trusted people – the Italians Mauro Tassotti and Andrea Maldera. Another assistant would also be Jerzy Dudek. Shevchenko would become the best-earning coach of the Polish national team in history, and Leo Beenhakker and Paulo Sousa (about EUR 850-900 thousand a year) would raise several times. It all comes with a lot of risk.

Means, inter alia, huge responsibility – even the lack of time will not be an excuse for Shevchenko in the eyes of the public opinion after a possible failure in the March play-offs. This also applies to the president of the Polish Football Association, because fans will expect an immediate effect for such money.

Regardless of who will pay the Ukrainian, the decision to hire him will be of great importance for the next selection of the manager. The limit of earnings in the Polish national team will be moved from about 850 thousand. euro to 2.5 million euro and the next candidates for the head of staff will certainly benefit from this fact.

Shevchenko remains a coaching puzzle, also for his fellow countrymen. He has an excellent football name, but in the new surroundings it is not entirely clear what to expect from him. And taking into account that in Genoa he still had 2.5 years of contract, it should not be expected that the contract with the Polish representation will be shorter.

Andriy Shevchenko has been working as a coach for several years. He led the Ukrainian national team really well, which was crowned by the quarter-finals of the last European championships. And although he did not advance to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, giving way to Iceland and Croatia in the qualifying rounds, later the Euro 2020 qualifiers were played well, in which Ukraine left Portugal and Serbia behind. In the League of Nations, she was able to beat Spain or Switzerland, and fell to a lower division only because she received a forfeit for a rematch with the Swiss – due to positive results of tests for the coronavirus.

The only foreign coaching episode of “Szewa” in Genoa ended in a defeat (three points in nine matches), although the Ukrainian must be repaid that due to the club’s mess and poor potential, he can only be blamed for part of the blame for this state of affairs.

Interestingly, the former footballer also has connections with Poland.

One thing is for sure. CEO Kulesza would go “all-in” by employing a Ukrainian legend. He would have his manager with whom he would get along very well in Russian, he would start a new stage for the national team. However, if this project fails, both him and the Polish Football Association will face a sports, image and financial disaster.

Nawałka must wait

What about Adam Nawałka? The former selector has an agreement with the Polish Football Association, but is waiting for Kulesza’s talks with Shevchenko to proceed. And, as we learn, he is in constant contact with Kulesza. It is not without a chance, but now it is closer for Cezary Kulesza to cut himself off from the past related to Zbigniew Boñek and start his original project related to the Polish representation. For which only he will be judged and will turn out to be either a madman or a genius.
