A giant asteroid will pass next Tuesday, January 18, at 10:51 p.m. (Spanish time) very close to Earth.
It is, as collected ‘Science Alert ‘, of a large object, twice the size of the Empire State Building, and has been rated “potentially dangerous.”
However, its impact is not feared because it will pass at a distance of almost 2 million kilometers from Earth and trajectory calculations have very little room for error.
The space object, classified as 7482, was tracked for the first time in 1994. However, according to ‘Science Alert’, scientists managed to find records of its existence in 1974.
But despite its large size, this is not the largest asteroid that has passed close to our planet. In 2017, the 3122 Florence – between 4 and 8.8 kilometers in diameter – passed very close to Earth on September 1.
