The new iPhone was criticized

Journalists of the German edition of Macwelt criticized the new iPhone 16e due to the lack of modern wireless charging. The authors noticed that an inexpensive smartphone does not support Magsafe charging standard.

Magsafe works using an annular magnet located on the rear panel of Apple smartphones and provides fast wireless charging. The standard appeared in 2020, but for inexplicable reasons, Apple decided not to add his support to the new iPhone 16E.

First, journalists suggested that the magnetic ring could interfere with the work of the new modem C1. Apple noticed that this was not so, but did not disclose the reasons for the lack of Magsafe.

According to Macwelt experts, with Magsafe, charger accessories are tightly adjacent to the smartphone and provide charging with a capacity of up to 25 watts. Without Magsafe, the charger has to be applied more accurately to the iPhone, also in this case, the charge power is limited to 7.5 watts.

In conclusion, the authors noticed that they did not understand the reasons why the Apple did not add to the smartphone for $ 599, Magsafe support. “We do not advise buying the iPhone 16E until we and our colleagues from other IT publications are tested,” the journalists summed up.
