New phones, in addition to the Chinese, like Xiaomi, no longer have this function, but is very useful

This useful function disappears from subsequent smartphone models, although it can be done. Why do manufacturers give it up and where else can you find?

Lost TV remote control, air conditioner without control, or maybe too many devices and too many pilots? If our phone has the IR Blaster function, just reach for the phone. Today, most manufacturers give up the infrared transmitter, although this is still a useful solution.

What exactly did we lose?

IR Blaster is a small infrared transmitter. Thanks to it, the phone can act like a TV remote control, air conditioning or audio equipment. The principle of operation is simple – The phone sends the same signals as a regular remote control. You do not need the Internet or any special equipment manufacturer applications.

Why is it so comfortable?

The TV pilot was getting somewhere, and we need to quickly change the channel or silence the sound. With a phone equipped with IR Blaster, just download a simple application and after the case. We can control any infrared device, regardless of its brand or age.

What else can you control?

The list is surprisingly long:

  • TVs of all brands
  • Cable and satellite TV decoders
  • Air conditioners
  • Stereo and Soundbar towers
  • Projectors
  • Even some fans or blinds

Where else can we find IR Blaster?

Currently, this function has been mainly on Chinese brands. Almost all Xiaomi and Poco models have it, selected Huawei smartphones and some VIVO phones. Meanwhile, Apple has never introduced this function, and Samsung, which was once her great supporter, completely gave it up.

Why do manufacturers give up?

There are several reasons. First of all, modern devices focus on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Smart TVs, intelligent air conditioners or audio equipment can be controlled by applications. The problem is that not everyone has the latest equipment, and older devices still work mainly on infrared.

Manufacturers also explain that IR Blaster takes place in the housing. At a time when you fight for every millimeter for a larger battery or better camera, such a transmitter may seem an unnecessary addition.

IR Blaster is one of those functions that we lack only when we need them. It can be useful when:

  • We have a lot of older RTV equipment at home
  • We do not want to play in configuration of various control applications
  • We sometimes get lost with remote controls
  • We want to have one universal pilot on the phone
