Huawei began to sell smart watches through pharmacies as a medical device

Chinese corporation Huawei began to register its gadgets as medical ones to increase sales. It is reported by Bloomberg.

The agency’s journalists found that Huawei issued a special certification for a number of her smart watches to promote them as medical devices. According to them, thanks to this cunning, the corporation leaders found a way to sell their equipment through pharmacies in China.

The material says that the Chinese authorities indirectly help Huawei sell smart watches and other wearable equipment. About 95 percent of China residents are entitled to medical insurance, which compensates for the cost of some medical services or drugs. Thus, citizens for state money can purchase devices from Huawei.

Including a medical certificate received the smart watch Watch D2, which can measure pressure. According to Bloomberg experts, formally the gadget corresponds to the concept of a medical device, but a regular tonometer costs 10 times cheaper – Huawei watches are available for 2988 yuan, or about 40 thousand rubles.

At the same time, the authorities of some Chinese provinces have already banned the sale of smart watches in pharmacies. In a number of other regions, one person cannot get more than one gadget in his hands.

Earlier, Kantar analysts listed the best -selling smartphones in the world in the fourth quarter of 2024. According to them, in all regions the IPhone 16 series devices were the leaders.
