Japanese mini-satellite made the highest quality photos of the earth
The Japanese startup Arpedge Space has published images from space, which were obtained using a miniature satellite. The Verge edition paid attention to this.
The photos received as part of the Ontglaisat mission were shot using a cubesis – a satellite of small dimensions. According to scientists, the satellite of the “size of a suitcase” managed to take the highest quality photographs of the surface of the earth ever removed from the space. The size of printed pictures in the original resolution was 2.5 meters.
Representatives of Arpedge Space shared photographs of some areas of the United States and Argentina. According to the head of the project Takaesi Fukue, the pictures have the same high detail as if they were obtained as a result of aerial photography. Experts noted that the photos were taken at an altitude of 410 kilometers above the surface of the earth.
Arkedge Space satellite is equipped with an optical Korsch system, an image sensor CMOS TDI (Time Delay and Integration) and image compression equipment. The Japanese Cubsat was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in November, and on December 10 it was deployed using the Kibo module. His mission will end in March.
In April, Samara scientists began tests of the first Russian nanosonik with a radar. The 12-Junite Cubsat is designed to monitor the surface of the Earth, the period of the active existence of the spacecraft in near-Earth orbit is at least a year.
