Intellectual protection against theft has appeared on Android smartphones
Google engineers added the function of intellectual protection of devices from theft to the chosen Android-scartphones. The publication of Engadget drew attention to this.
The new function works on the basis of artificial intelligence (AI). The neural network will analyze scenarios for using the device and identify attempts to access the phone of third parties or cases of abduction. Google noted that, for example, the smartphone will be automatically blocked if the operating system (OS) appears that the device is pulled out of the user’s hands.
In the case of AI blocking, the Identity Check function will be launched. With it, having physical access to the device will have to undergo a biometric check and confirm their identity. Identity Check will turn on after several unsuccessful attempts to unlock the device or change the password on the device. Also, the owner of the gadget will be able to remotely block it through the Google account.
Such protection will work constantly, with the exception of those places that the user noted as safe, for example, his house. The function is already available on Google Pixel smartphones running Android 15, in the near future it will appear in the One UI 7 firmware on Samsung phones. Google promised that by the end of the year the Identity Check will add to supported smartphones of all brands.
Earlier, Google introduced the first public version of Android 16 – with smart notifications of Live Updates, adaptive applications and new camera settings. The final OS should be released in mid -2025.
