Intel suggested producing modular PCs to simplify the repair process
The American Corporation Intel proposed to establish the production of modular components for computers to simplify their repair. This was reported in the company’s blog.
IT giant specialists called the innovative technology they proposed. According to them, the personal computer (PC) consisting of modular parts will be easier to assemble, as well as replace the outdated or failed parts. The Intel initiative is also designed to reduce the amount of electronic waste.
The corporation named three types of modular PC – an entry -level laptop, a premium level laptop and a desktop computer. In particular, the first type is based on a triple system consisting of the motherboard and two other input-output boards. According to experts, users will not have to throw the computer entirely if any component breaks down-they will be able to replace the part at home and continue to use the device.
The material says that the universal platform of modular PCs will also help to simplify the development of components – processors, video cards, RAM modules and other things. “With our project, we strive to significantly extend the life of computers, thereby reducing electronic waste and promoting a more stable consumption model,” concluded representatives of the corporation.
At the end of January, Counterpoint Research analysts said that every fourth laptop supplied to the market in 2024 worked with artificial intelligence. In general, the global PC market grew by 3.7 percent.
