Against Apple filed a lawsuit due to the availability of chemicals in smart watches straps
A group of Apple users from the United States accused Tim Cook’s company on the sale of devices containing hazardous chemicals. It is reported by The Register.
The lawsuit was filed in California. American consumers accused the corporation that it sells Apple Watch watches, the straps of which contain polyfetorcal compounds (PFAS), also known as “eternal chemicals”. According to the plaintiffs, an IT giant deliberately hides the presence of substances harmful to the health in their devices.
According to journalists, outraged users refer to a recent study by Notre Dame Maryland (USA), according to which PFAS can be found in a fluorolastomer, which is widely used as a material for smart watches. So, the fluorolastomer contains perforgexic acid, which is not subjected to biological decomposition and is resistant to destruction after exposure to water and light.
“The defendant knows that some of his products contain PFAS. He also knows that these chemicals are dangerous, ”lawyers noted the interests of users. The plaintiffs are sure that Apple violates the laws of the state of California on unfair competition, advertising and legal protection means of consumers. Apple has not yet reacted to the lawsuit.
In early December, the California regulator ordered Apple to mark on his website that the iPhone accessory sold by the company contains Bispenol A. This substance is widely used in industry, but can cause cancer.
