9to5Mac: Apple’s Smart Ring Will Work With Augmented Reality Headset
Apple has patented a new smart ring. This was noticed by 9to5Mac.
The patent for the invention was found in the database of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Its description states that the wearable device will operate in an isolated mode and collect data on the user’s activity and health. “The collected data can be transferred to other devices,” the corporation’s engineers noted.
At the same time, in a number of scenarios, the smart ring can be combined with other gadgets. For example, it can be used together with an augmented reality headset – for control, more accurate text input, and device settings. At the moment, only one mixed reality gadget has been released under the Apple brand – Vision Pro glasses.
According to media journalists, the described control system can improve the accuracy of AR and VR helmets invented by Apple. However, they noted that the company may not release the smart ring for development, since by the time such a need arises, the invention will be outdated.
In February, Bloomberg reported that Apple would introduce several new wearable gadgets in the coming years. These included headphones with built-in cameras and smart rings.
